How Long Does a Car Engine Oil Change Take

The engine depends on clean, viable oil in order to stay cool and prevent overheating. Since the engine components move quickly and cause a lot of friction together, it is important for the oil to keep these components running smoothly. If the components were to become overheated, it would cause irreversible damage to them. Then you’d be required to spend thousands of dollars in repairs or on the entire replacement of your engine.

To prevent overheating, you need to make sure of two things. First, you must put the proper oil in your engine as well as the proper amount of oil. Second, you must change the oil after a certain amount of time because the quality of the used oil will eventually diminish. It is the responsibility of every car owner to get an oil change done. It is the most common car maintenance task because it is important, but also cheap and simple to do.

However, there are many car owners who don’t like to get oil changes done because they are an inconvenience. If you perform the oil change job yourself, it will take you between 20 minutes and 50 minutes to get it done. It is a very messy job, especially if you don’t have the right tools and equipment to do it professionally.  For this reason, you might be better off going to an express service garage and having your oil changed there.

At a commercial auto garage, it will only take the auto technician between 10 minutes and 15 minutes to change the oil in your engine. Although, this is assuming that no other cars are in line ahead of your cars. In many situations, an auto garage will have several customers waiting to get their oil change done. This means you’ll need to wait for those other cars to get their oil changed before the auto technician get to your car.

As a result, you may end up waiting over 1 hour at the garage for your oil to be changed. The best way to prevent this is to schedule an appointment for an oil change, but even that won’t always guarantee a fast job will be done.
